Requirements for the Romania Digital Nomad Visa

📄 Valid Travel Document

A valid travel document accepted by Romania on which a visa can be attached. Your travel document must have been issued within the past ten years and remain valid for at least three months beyond the date of expiration stated on your application.

💶 Proof of Remote Work

You must be able to prove sufficient income from either:

  • Valid working contract with a foreign company
  • Owning a business with clients outside the country
  • Becoming an independent freelancer and earning an income through providing services to international customers.

All documents should be unique and possess a Romanian translation for verification.

💰 Meet the Minimum Monthly Income 

You must have verifiable proof of income from the past six months that exceeds three times Romania’s average gross salary – approximately €3,700 ($4,170) per month.

The letter should explain what you will be doing in Romania and why you are going there. The letter needs to be original and include a Romanian translation.

📄 Tax Certificate and Fiscal Residence Certificate 

An original document along with its authenticated translation into Romanian. This document is issued by the specialized office of the competent central or local government institution of your place of fiscal residence.

This attestation confirms that as of the date in question, the foreign employee or company has paid all necessary taxes and other compulsory contributions on time and is not linked to any activity involving intentional tax evasion or fraud.

🚗 Travel Ticket / Vehicle supporting documents 

A valid airfare ticket is needed to enter the destination. Your driver’s license, green card, and car registration documents must also be presented if you are driving.

You can apply electronically via the Ministry of Foreign Affairs eVisa platform or take the more traditional route and physically visit an embassy in your home country.

To submit your application electronically, you must create an account on the Romanian eVisa platform. You need a valid email address to create an account. Click “Apply For A Visa” and fill it out with the required information.

Applying for a visa at your nearest Romanian embassy is relatively straightforward. Secure an appointment with the embassy, and be sure to bring all required paperwork.
