A digital nomad visa allows people who work online to live legally and work in a foreign country for an extended period.

This type of visa is created for people who wish to work remotely, such as freelancers, consultants, and entrepreneurs.

Requirements for the Greece Digital Nomad Visa

📄 Valid Travel Document 

You will need a passport that is valid for at least six months after your return flight back.

💶 Proof of Remote Income 

You must be able to prove sufficient income from either:

  • Valid working contract with a foreign company
  • Owning a business with clients outside the country
  • Becoming an independent freelancer and earning an income through providing services to international customers.

💰 Meet the Minimum Monthly Income 

If you want to stay in the country for a year, you must earn at least €3500 per month. 

Add 20% if you wish to bring your partner and another 15% for each child, e.g. (€3500 + 700 + 525 = €4725 for a family of three).

You must provide a clear criminal record from your country of residence.

4 Most Important Steps when Applying for the Greece Digital Nomad Visa

Once your documents are gathered, you can submit your application at the nearest Greek consulate where you live.

You can apply either:

  • Via email,
  • In-person,
  • Postal to the registered address

Expect to pay a €75 fee for the application and an additional €150 to cover the administration fee for your digital nomad visa.


⏳ Step 3: Wait for Approval

The Greek Consulate or Embassy will evaluate your application within ten days of receiving your documents. If approved, the Greek Ministry of Migration and Asylum will then issue your new Greek digital nomad visa.

After you’ve been granted a digital nomad visa to live in Greece, you must register for a residency permit. Bring your residence agreement (proof of booking or residential lease), passport, and visa when applying.

The first thing you need to do after arriving in the country is to go to the closest Aliens and Immigration Department of the Decentralized Administration office in your residence district and submit your paperwork.

Once you have completed this last step, you can begin your stay in Greece as a digital nomad! You can live and work in the country for up to one year or longer if your visa is extended – make sure to renew it before your current visa expires.
