Visa Types

Montenegro offers several types of visas for travelers, each with unique requirements and benefits.

✈️ Montenegro Airport Transit (A) Visa

Montenegro’s Airport Transit Visa (A) is ideal for visitors who wish to transit through the country without entering its territory. This visa allows foreign nationals one or more connections between international flights and comes with a validity period of up to three months.

Generally, those who travel through Montenegro’s airports or fly on international flights without leaving the transit zone are not required to have a visa.

To ensure national security and maintain lawfulness, the Government of Montenegro may require nationals from particular countries to obtain an Airport Transit visa.

⛴️ Montenegro Transit Visa (B)

Individuals may be granted a Montenegro Transit visa (B) for one or two transits (rarely more than this) through the country’s jurisdiction with a validity of up to 6 months.

Based on the transit visa, a nonresident may remain in Montenegro for five days on each journey.

Foreigners may be granted a Transit visa if they have been accepted into the destination state, and this visa can either be issued to a single individual or multiple people.

📍 Montenegro Short-stay (C) Visa

A short-stay visa (C) can be used for one, two or multiple entries into the country. This type of visa can be granted for tourist, business, personal or any other purpose.

Montenegro’s Short-stay visa (C) is the perfect choice for travellers looking to explore the beauty of Montenegro, attend business meetings or functions, or for personal or other purposes.

Depending on your requirements, you can acquire this visa with single, double, or multiple entries into Montenegro. For any consecutive visits, the total duration of stays cannot surpass 90 days within six months starting from the initial entry date.

Visa C is a multiple-entry visa that can be used for up to one year. In exceptional cases, this visa may be granted for a more extended period of validity, but never over five years. Foreigners are eligible to receive a collective visa, valid for up to thirty days and authorised on a group passport.

🏕️ Montenegro Long-stay (D) Visa

A Montenegro Long-stay Visa (D) can be issued to foreigners for one, two or multiple entries into the country.

The purpose of this visa is for those who plan to remain in Montenegro territory over many weeks or months but no longer than six months per calendar year, beginning from their first entry date.

A foreigner may be eligible for this type of visa;

  • Intending to stay in Montenegro to perform business or other activities.
  • Representing a foreign diplomatic or consular office, an international organisation accredited with Montenegro, a member of the economic and cultural representative office, and their family members.

🏠 Temporary residence permit

According to Article 35 of the Law on Foreigners, a long-stay visa may be granted for a temporary residence permit in Montenegro if an individual intends to stay longer than 90 days.
