đź’» Union Space

Union Space boasts locations in Thailand, Indonesia and the Philippines. Lau and I visited their Ekkamai location in Bangkok.

Their Ekkami location offers a coworking space that has both a communal and private indoor workspace and a tremendous outdoor work environment.

Combining these factors gave us the feeling we were working from our balcony at home but with all the amenities of a coworking space.

In terms of the communal area, which is housed in the center of the coworking space, you’ll find numerous chairs and tables for your working day.

Rest assured, you’ll be working in a well-tempered room as they have not one but three air conditioning units to keep you and your tech from overheating – a big plus after our experiences working remotely from our boat.

One letdown was that most work chairs aren’t cushioned and are hardwood. However, This was easily remedied by using one of the cushions from the couch chairs.

Private meeting rooms can be rented for an additional fee, and support group sizes up to a maximum of 6. These were all in use, so we didn’t get to pop our head in to take a look first-hand, so make sure to book in advance if you’re interested in working out of one.

What we liked most about this space was the outdoor area. Playing in the background was jazz music, and located around the edges of the space were fans that created a welcomed breeze at times.

There’s also a cafe conveniently located on one of the corners, where you can pick up a coffee for 50-60 Baht – make sure to bring cash or have a Thai bank account, as MasterCard & Visa aren’t accepted.

One thing to mention is that this coworking space is a little out of the center. It took roughly 30-40 minutes from Khaosan Road and cost us 110 baht with a Green and Yellow cab.

We’d recommend a taxi over a tuk-tuk due to the length of the journey and the fact that you’ll be driving along the highway for part of the trip.

In terms of food, you’ll find Union Space has a kitchen onsite that’s open until 7 PM. Alternatively, there’s a 7/11 and Family Mart 5 mins down the road – the coworking space didn’t have a problem with us bringing food from outside.

An added perk for those considering establishing their company in Thailand is Union Space offers several business services to help you get set up.

This could save you considerable time, money and pain when dealing with the Thai authorities. We took the below photo with their current price list in case you’re interested.

đź’› Final Thoughts

Although this coworking space was further out than most, we enjoyed the ability to work from the balcony area, something we felt was missing from the other locations we worked from.

We also felt the space was set up well, so we’d recommend checking out Union Space, Ekkamai, next time you’re in Bangkok.
